Characters: Kirino. Non explicit mentions of Shindou.
Notes: A very little something written when that info about Kirino being jealous of Shindou's progress was going around, and after the first two episodes of Jeanne's arc, though I think this could apply best for the last episode. Filling the angst and drama quota I guess.

His breath hitched laboriously, fists and teeth clenched as he lay on the dirt, beaten, defeated; so useless, so worthless.
He saw him, his back turned to him, so far away he was hopeless to reach at, and he bit back a whimper, fighting back tears and feeling so hollow.
Digging his nails in the earth he wondered, yet stopped his thoughts. It was painful to think, these things he hoped for though wasn't apt for wishing so.
He lay so low he couldn't see himself anymore, and it hurt, and it sunk him, spiraling him down and down and down...
He yearned for so much, as much as it was him. When had their differences grown so big?
It wasn't fair, he thought once, and it made him feel so sick, so bile and remorseful, watching at the back he'd seen for so long and wishing for nothing of this to be truth, for their breaches to be gone.
Was it then, betrayal?
